National Institute of Technology Calicut, formerly Regional Engineering College Calicut, is a public technical university and an institute of national importance governed by the NIT Act passed by the Parliament of India. The campus is situated 22 kilometres north east of Kozhikode, on the Kozhikode–Mukkam Road. The National Institute of Technology Calicut, also known as NITC was established in the year 1961 as Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC) at Chathamangalam, nearly 22 kilometers away from Kozhikode. The institute offers bachelors, masters and degree programmes in different streams of Science, Engineering, Technology, and Management. The undergraduate courses offered include B.Tech in various engineering fields and B.Arch. The list of postgraduate courses includes M.Tech, M.Sc. MCA, MBA, and M.Plan. PhD programmes are available in different engineering and science streams
