Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination or HSEE is a national level entrance test conducted by IIT Madras every year. The exam conducted is for admissions to Masters’s programmes that are MA Development Studies and MA English. HSEE notification 2024 has been released by the exam conducting authority.
IIT Madras conducts HSEE to shortlist aspirants for admission to the College’s five-year integrated Master of Arts (MA) program. The first two years of the IIT Madras MA program are the same. The course branches into two streams after that, though–Integrated MA in Development Studies and Integrated MA in English Studies. The total amount of seats available in the MA course of IIT Madras is 46 (each year).

- Applicants should have to register themselves first by visiting the official website of IIT Madras.
- To fill the application form, applicants have to register themselves by submitting the required details such as name, email address, and mobile number.
- By using the registration number and password, applicants can fill the application form with all correct and complete details.
- In the application form, applicants need to upload the required scanned documents and submit them after filling in all the details.

HSEE 2024 Exam Pattern
- Parts: There are 2 parts in HSEE; Part I and Part II
- Duration: The exam is of 3 hours, candidates get 2 hours and 30 minutes to attempt Part I and 30 minutes for Part 2. (Candidates with more than 40% disability physical disability gets 1 hour extra.)
- Language: The question paper of HSEE is only provided in the English language.

HSEE 2024 Admit Card
- HSEE 2024 Admit Card releasing date will be announced by IIT Madras. Candidates who have successfully registered will only get they admit cards from the official website. Following are a few points regarding the HSEE Hall Ticket:
- If there is any discrepancy found in the HSEE Hall Ticket 2024 particulars, the candidate must immediately get in touch with the officials to get it rectified.
- Candidates without the HSEE 2024 Hall Ticket can not appear for the examination at the allotted exam centre.
- A valid Photo ID proof must be carried by the candidates appearing for the examination to the venue as their identity will be cross-checked and if found incorrect, strict actions would be taken.
How to download HSEE Admit Card 2024?
- Visit the official website of HSEE
- Click on “Download HSEE 2024 Admit Card” on the homepage
- Enter you user ID and password
- Click on ‘Login’
- The HSEE Admit Card will be displayed and you can download the admit card.
- You can take multiple copies of Admit Card in case of any circumstances.
HSEE 2024 Preparation Tips
- Candidates must go through the examination syllabus before they start preparing for it.
- Applicants should look up for practice sets and previous years.
- Candidates must follow proper sleep schedules as it helps to focus and concentrate.
- Having some sort of recreational activity is a must as it eases out the stress after studying for long hours.
- Before the candidates start preparing for any examination, always set a goal on when to finish particular topics/subjects.
Exam Result:
HSEE 2024 results will be announced via online mode using the official website. You need to use the link to check the website and collect all the crucial details related to it. The merit list will be released (category-wise) after the result declaration. Make sure that you keep the hard copy of the result with you for further reference.

How to Know the HSEE Merit List 2024?
HSEE Merit List prepared based on marks obtained by candidates in HSEE 2024. Candidates who qualify the examination with meeting the Cut-off are added in the Merit List and are considered eligible for proceeding with the Admission.
