Calcutta University B.Ed. Eligibility Criteria

The University of Calcutta takes a rather generous eligibility percentage,

• Candidates qualifying with at least 50% marks in either the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/ Humanities/ Social Sciences.
• Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specializations in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other admissible qualification equivalent are eligible.
• Marks relaxation for lenience towards the minority (SC/ST/PWD) is 5%.
• Reservation of seats for B.Ed. for fresher’s: Calcutta University – 80%, Other Universities – 20%
• Reservation for minorities, SC – 22%, ST – 6%, PWD – 3%. Minorities from other states excluded.
• Age limit for fresher students, General category, 40 years as on 30th June. No age limit for General category Deputed Students.

Note: Age limit extendable up to 5 years for students belonging to SC, ST and PWD categories.

• The duration of B.Ed. the programme is of two academic sessions, however, students can complete the course maximum by three years starting from the date of admission to the programme.
• Bengali and English will be the medium of instructions.
• The reserved seats (for self-financed colleges) will be of 20% and 50% of the seats will be reserved for the University (erstwhile David Hare Training College), especially for Deputed teachers (teachers serving as substantive posts) of classes VI-XII.

The application fee should be paid through the online state only through Billdesk Payment Gateway. To pay the application fee you can log in with your own credentials after at last submitting your form. The application fee is Rs 600 for general candidates and Rs 350 for SC / ST / PWD. Calcutta University B.Ed Counseling Process 2024

• Candidates need to report for the counseling process as per the details communicated to them through the university’s website.
• At the time of counseling, the original documents of the candidates will be verified along with their eligibility.
• Upon successful verification, seats will be allotted to the candidates in the order of their merit.
• Selection of Deputed Teacher of Higher Secondary School/ Secondary School/ Madrasah affiliated to W.B.B.S.E/ W.B.B.M.E will be made on the basis of the period of approved services in the School/ Madrasah.

• The result of B.Ed admission in University of Calcutta will be published on the official website of the University i.e. caluniv.ac.in.
