Central University of Kashmir (formerly known as the Central University of Jammu and Kashmir) was established in March 2009 with the appointment and joining of Prof. Abdul Wahid Qureshi , a noted academician and the former Vice Chancellor of University of Kashmir, as the First Vice Chancellor. The mission of the University is to contribute to the educational, cultural, economic & social advancement of people providing high quality educational programmes leading to Bachelors, Masters, Professional and Doctorate Degrees as well as to address the cultural, economic, educational, environmental, health and social needs of the region and nation at large. Central University of Kashmir formerly known as Central University of Jammu and Kashmir is funded and regulated by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Offering innovation and quality in teaching this university follows school system of study and choice based system in letter and spirit for its integrated academic degree , diploma and certificate programmes.
The basic eligibility for Central University of Kashmir admission is for UG, PG, and Ph. D programs respectively are:
- A minimum of 50 per cent in class 12th for general candidates and 45 per cent for SC/ST candidates with required subjects
- The general category’s minimum mark is 55%, while the SC/ST/OBC/PWD category’s minimum mark is 50%.
- For Ph. D admission applicants clearing UGC-CSIR, JRF, GATE, NBHM, or any national level exams are exempted for appearing CUET exam.

Admission Process
UG Courses Details
- A valid score in JEE Main is required for admission to BTech programme
- Admission to BVoc is based on CUKAT scores
- BA LLB, B.Ed and Integrated BSc – MSc admissions are based on CUCET exam
- Candidates, who have completed Class 12, can apply for UG courses
PG Courses Details Details
- MBA admission is based on CMAT scores, followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GDPI)
- Admission to MA, MCom, MTech, MTTM, MEd, MPEd, LLM and Masters in Convergent Journalism is based on CUCET scores
- Candidates must have passed graduation in the relevant stream to apply for any of the PG courses
MPhil/ PhD Course Details
- MPhil/ PhD admission is based on NET JRF/ GATE/ UGC NET scores
- Candidates, who have completed master’s degree from a recognised university, can apply for PG programmes

- Register with a valid username and password.
- Select the required course and pay up the registration fee.
- Fill up the application form accurately, and scrutinize it.
- Upload the scanned images of all the documents asked.
- Upload a colour passport sized photograph whenever asked.
- Submit the form.
- Save a copy for future references.
- Appear for counselling when called.
- Seats will be allotted on the basis of counselling.

- On the CUK website homepage go to the right corner ”Quick Links” Section.
- In Quick links find the Results tab and open it.
- The opening of the Results page will display all results of CUK 2024.
- Select your desired result link and click on “Click Here to View” which is
available at end of each link. - Your result for the CUK semester exam 2024 will start downloading automatically.

As per the students of CU Kashmir, placements are nearly 50-60%. Though a dedicated placement cell is not present, yet the students are able to bag decent jobs and internship opportunities. Decathlon Sports, HDFC are the major companies who have recruited the students from here.
