Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI), founded by two dedicated disciples and contemporaries of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr.G.Ramachandran and Dr.T.S.Soundaram Ramachandran, has as its foundation Mahatma Gandhi’s revolutionary philosophy of Nai Talim. The Gandhigram Rural Institute Library was established in 1956. It moved to the present building during 1987, stocking over 1.79 lakh books and 284 printed Indian journals in a separate journal section. it is accredited from AICTE and it is affiliated to Bharathiar University. GRI, Dindigul offers 58 courses across 11 streams namely Arts, Management, Science, IT, Agriculture, Design, Commerce and Banking, Hotel Management, Engineering, Education, Vocational and across 15 degrees ( B.A., B.Com, B.B.A, B.Sc. , B.Sc.
