Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission to PhD, Direct PhD and M.S, M.tech. (by Research) Program under Regular/Part-Time/External Schemes in various disciplines for the academic session commencing in July 2024 Interested candidates can apply through online mode. Application Process for IIT Madras PhD Admission July 2024

• Candidate has to apply online on https://research.iitm.ac.in/
• Read the instructions and information brochure carefully before filling application form.
• Candidates who wish to apply to multiple departments or research programmes should register individual application and pay the application fee separately.

PhD in Management

• Masters degree or 2 year PG Diploma in a relevant discipline, and a Bachelor’s degree with a good academic record (minimum five years of undergraduate and postgraduate education) OR Five year integrated master’s degree / dual degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with a good academic record
• Qualifying in national level examinations such as CAT/GATE/UGC-JRF/NET/CSIR-JRF or equivalent or international level post graduate admission examination such as GMAT/GRE (Non-HTRA) OR At least 5 years of managerial experience in lieu of the above examination. (This clause is applicable for Non-HTRA candidates only)

PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences

• Master’s degree / dual degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline AND Qualifying GATE / UGC – NET or JRF / CSIR-JRF or equivalent qualification tenable for the current year in the relevant area or international level post graduate admission examination such as GRE (Non-HTRA)
• Master’s degree in Technology/Engineering or 5 Year BS+MS Dual degree/ 5 Year Integrated degree with a good academic record from Centrally Funded Technical Institute.

PhD in Engineering

• Master’s degree in Technology/Engineering with a good academic record / Master’s degree by Research in Technology/Engineering with a good academic record / 5 Year Dual Degree in Engineering or 5 Year BS+MS Dual degree with a good academic record from Centrally Funded Technical Institute.
• Candidates having 2 Year M.Sc. from IITs (entry through JAM) with minimum 8.0 grade are exempted from qualifying in National Level Examinations.

PhD in Sciences

• Master’s degree in Sciences with good academic record and valid GATE score or CSIR-JRF/ UGC-JRF/ NET/ INSPIRE/ NBHM.
• Master’s degree in Technology/Engineering or 5 Year Integrated degree/5 Year BS+MS Dual degree/ with a good academic record from Centrally Funded Technical Institute.
