The seed for the establishment and growth of TANUVAS was sown as early as 1876, when the Madras Veterinary College was started as an Agricultural School in Chennai to offer diploma and certificate course in the field of veterinary and animal sciences. The need for qualified veterinarians was felt as early as 1878 and the subject veterinary medicine was taught to the agriculture diploma students at the Agriculture College, Saidapet. Since, it was not found adequate to the needs of the society, a separate veterinary diploma was started at the same place during 1893. However, this was also not found adequate. The university conducts the process of TANUVAS Admission to offer various UG and PG programs through multiple study centers. At present, the university offers these programs in the field of Dairy Technology, Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Food Technology, Poultry Technology, Bioinformatics, and Biotechnology. ANUVAS Admission 2024: Important Dates

Qualifying marks:

• Applicants who belong to a reserved category should score more than passing marks that are a minimum of 35% marks in the qualifying exam.
• In the case of general category applicants, more than 60% of marks should be secured by the applicants in the qualifying exam.

Age criteria:

• To appear for the admission procedure, the minimum age limit of the applicant should be more than 17 years at the time of admission.
• However, the upper age limit for general category applicants is 21 years at the time of admission.
  For reserved category applicants, no upper age limit is decided by the official authorities.
