How to Make Bamboo Planks in Minecraft- Find, Use, Add Bamboo Wood- Step by Step Guide

How to Make Bamboo Wood in Minecraft

The most basic element of any wood type is the plank block. That’s where bamboo begins as well. So let’s look at the crafting recipe for the new bamboo wood block in Minecraft.

When you have the bamboo, press E to open your inventory. Then place the bamboo in a 2×2 shape to craft 1 bamboo plank.

Note: This recipe will only work if you play in the Minecraft 1.20 version (both Java and Bedrock Edition) or the latest 22w42a snapshot.

How to Use Bamboo Wood in Minecraft

  • Stairscrafted by placing six bamboo planks in a staircase pattern
  • Raft: same crafting recipe as boats in Minecraft; crafted by combining 5 bamboo planks in a hollow semi-square
  • Slab: crafted by placing three planks horizontally next to each other
  • Door: crafted by filling two adjacent columns with bamboo planks
  • Button: crafted by placing a bamboo plank in the crafting area
  • Fence: created by surrounding two sticks with four bamboo planks
  • Sign: created by filling two adjacent rows with bamboo planks and putting a stick below the middle cell
  • Raft With a Chest: a combination of a chest with a raft
  • Pressure Plate: created by placing two bamboo planks in adjacent columns
  • Trapdoor: crafted by filling two adjacent rows with bamboo planks
  • Fence Gate: created by reversing the arrangement of a fence’s recipe

Players need four pieces of bamboo to craft bamboo planks in Minecraft

  • Once players have found enough bamboo in Minecraft, it’s time to begin crafting bamboo planks. Luckily, the process of doing so is very easy once all the materials have been obtained.
  • To craft bamboo planks, players will need to place four pieces of bamboo on the crafting table. They should form a 2 x 2 square shape.
  • Players can do this as many times as they want in order to create the required amount of bamboo planks for their build.

How to Find Bamboo in Minecraft

Bamboo is a tall green plant that only grows in the Jungle and the Bamboo Jungle biome. They grow fast, are easy to farm and harvest, and can be used as food for pandas.

Previously, besides crafting, fueling, and decoration purposes, bamboo doesn’t have any other primary usages. But in the newest snapshot, Mojang introduced a new type of wood made from bamboo. Exciting!

To find the correct biome for bamboo, you have to travel a thousand blocks or even more if you’re unlucky. Since jungle biomes are considered rare in Minecraft.

Why not add Bamboo Planks?

It’s crafted with 4 Sugar Canes, or probably 9 to be a bit expensive. It can be used the same way as wooden planks.

Bamboo planks can be made into sticks. Bamboo can be used to craft Bamboo Door, it has same properties as wooden doors but with different appearance.

Instead of cutting down the trees and hurting the environment, let’s grow sugar canes!

In endless desert, you can take advantage of these if trees are not available although you need 4 sugar canes for a single plank so a full stack would only yield 16 planks. So it’s much less efficient than trees unless you have massive farm consisting of over 100 sugar canes.
