Plug in the device
To get started, first plug your Google Home device into an outlet. There is no power button on the Google Home, so as long as it’s plugged into an outlet, it’s automatically on. Download the Google Home app

- Launch the Google Home app.
- Tap on the Get started button.
- Choose a Google account to use. Then, hit OK.
- On the home screen, tap the Add plus icon in the top-left corner.
- Select Create new home.
- Enter a nickname you want to call your home. Then, click on Continue.
- Fill in the details of your home address where you plan on using the Google Nest Mini. Google uses this to give you the most accurate results like weather and traffic information. However, you can choose to skip this part.
- Back on the home screen, select the Add plus icon again.
Sign in with Google and sync your device
To turn on sync in Google Chrome on a Windows 10 or Mac computer, open the Chrome browser and click the Profile icon. Then click Turn on sync and sign in to your Google username and password. Finally, click Yes, I’m in and Done.

Setting up a Google account has its advantages. When you create one, it will automatically sync data including your browser settings, autofill settings, and much more. You can access the Google Play Store as well. Let’s take a look at some of the basic requirements.
- On your device, go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage Accounts.
- Scroll down and tap on Add account. Select Google from the list. If you have a pattern/biometric recognition enabled, you need to unlock your phone first.
- On the sign-in screen, tap Create account, then select For Myself from the dropdown.
- You’ll need to enter your personal information such as name, date of birth, and gender. Tap Next.
