Overwatch 2 : How to Fix Blurry Screen Bug

The strangest things happen with AAA game releases nowadays, and apart from the queue and server issues Overwatch 2 was plagued with on launch, some players have been getting graphical bugs like a blurry screen that makes it as though you’re seeing with beer goggles on.

However, if you are still not able to fix this issue, make sure that no game updates are pending. If there are, make sure to update the game to the latest version. You can check for updates at Blizzard/Battlenet launcher.

What is causing blurry graphics in OW2?

The blurry graphics in OW2 aren’t really a bug but actually related to the render scaling of the game. By default (for absolutely no reason) Overwatch 2 enables Dynamic Render Scaling in settings.

What dynamic scaling does is that it tries to maintain a specified frame rate. If frames dip below that, the game automatically adjusts the render resolution to reduce load and improve FPS.

This constant scaling of the resolution to prioritize FPS is not only very distracting but also ends up reducing the quality way too much in some cases. When your OW2 is blurry, it is impossible to see faraway objects or snipers.

To fix the blurry graphics bug in Overwatch 2, you can try out these options:

  • Exit out of the game.
  • Update Overwatch 2.

  • Reinstall Overwatch 2.

How to fix the Blurry Screen bug in Overwatch 2

The blurry screen issue is mainly caused for people who are currently meeting the bare system requirements to run the Overwatch 2 game.

Primarily, the problem arises as your device starts overloading because you barely meet the video requirements, and it causes the screen to blur.

  1. First, exit from the current match you are playing and restart the game.
  2. If the issue persists, check if there are any pending updates from Blizzard that have been rolled out for Overwatch 2 by going to the Blizzard launcher.
  3. Rerun the game, get to the game settings, and go to Video. Find the Dynamic Render scale and turn it off. This should fix the blurry screen bug.
  4. Make sure your ‘Render Scale’ is set to ‘Custom’ and your ‘In-Game Resolution’ is set to 100%.
    1. However, since you are here, you can toggle the Graphics Quality Tab and change the High-Quality Upsampling to the Default setting.
    2. Turn off the Anti-Alias Quality, or set it to FXAA or SMAA Low.
    3. Try out these settings; if nothing works, you must reinstall the game.

Here are a few things that players can try out to tackle the blur glitch in Overwatch 2:

  • This problem might be a part of a series of issues that the Overwatch 2 servers seem to be facing. While it might not seem like a likely enough reason on the surface, many have noted that this bug was often accompanied by server errors. Hence, players will need to check the shooter’s server status if they are facing the issue.
  • Updating the game to the latest version is also a great way of fixing the nearsighted effect. Patching the latest updates and downloading the most recent version of the shooter is another viable way of fixing the problem.
  • Re-installing the game will be the more drastic measure. However, uninstalling and then installing the shooter might just be the fix that solves the blurring issue.
