Why won’t my notification badges go away

In this article, we will explain in detail how to solve the problem that occurs when the notification badge on the phone app does not disappear. On your iPhone, the Phone app will display a notification badge whenever you receive a voicemail, even if you don’t answer the call that you were expecting. These little red circles are a badge that may be found on the app’s icon in the upper right-hand corner of the app icon.  These badges will automatically appear whenever a notice (such as a missed call or an incoming message is received if the Notifications setting for the Phone is activated. This will display the total number of calls and voicemails that you have missed.  If the notification badge on your iPhone is indecisive and won’t disappear, then this troubleshooting article is for you.

Why won’t my notification badges go away

Firstly, check that the iOS software on your iPhone is up to date and running the most recent version. Tap the Settings app > General > Software Update menu option to see if there is an update that can be installed.

When you go to the Home screen on your device and slide up or double-press the Home button if you have an iPhone with a button for that reason, the previews of your most recently used apps will appear. You have the option to swipe either left or right. Find the icon that looks like a phone, and then use the up arrow on that icon to dismiss the preview mode. After that, relaunch the app for your phone.

If you have an iPhone 11 or X, you can access the power slider by pressing and holding the side button as well as the volume up or down button at the same time. Next, move the slider to the desired position. Please hold off until your phone has completely powered down for about 30 seconds. The next step is to press and keep holding the button on the side of the device until the Apple logo appears.

Other models of the iPhone:

You’ll need to first press and hold either the side or top button until the red slider appears, and then you can move it. And then wait for your phone to finish the procedure, which should take approximately a minute and a half. After then, either the side or top button should be pressed and held until the Apple logo appears.

On your iPhone, navigate to Settings > Notifications > scroll down and tap on the next available option. After waiting for roughly a minute, please switch the Badges feature on your phone back on after you have turned it off.

Go to Settings > Notifications > Phone on your iPhone and disable Badges. After that, you need to restart your iPhone, after which you should navigate to Settings > Notifications > Phone and activate Badges.

If it doesn’t work then try force restarting your phone. Here is how it works:

For iPhone 8 and later models, first press and then release the volume up button. Next, press and then release the volume down button. Finally, press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

For variants of the iPhone 7, you need to simultaneously press and hold the side button as well as the volume down button until you see the Apple logo.

For all other iPhone models including the iPhone 5, the iPhone 6, and others, press and hold the side button as well as the home button until the Apple logo shows.

Reset all settings:

If you carry out these steps, your settings will be reset to their original levels (display settings, network settings, etc). There will be no impact on your data in any way. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

Restart the system:

Some iPhone users reported that restarting their devices resolved the issue of the app’s notification badge counter becoming stuck. If you’re interested in seeing if it has the same effect for you, try it out. To turn off your iPhone, press and hold the power button as well as the volume up/down button, and then drag the slider marked “Slide to power off” to the right. After you have turned on your device again, check to see if the notification badges are still present on the app that was affected.
