Shruti Haasan is an Indian film actress, playback singer and music composer who works in the Telugu, Tamil and Hindi film industries. Born on 28 January 1986 in Chennai, she is the daughter of actor Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur. She studied at Abacus Montessori School in Chennai, before moving to Mumbai to study psychology at St Andrew’s College. After completing her degree, she made her debut as a child artist with her father’s movie Hey Ram (2000). Subsequently she starred in several Bollywood films such as Luck (2009), Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji (2011) and Ramaiya Vastavaiya (2013).

Personal and Professinal Life/Career
She made her debut in South Cinema with the Tamil film Sivappu Manjal Pachai (2019) and Kannada film Rustum (2019). Her filmy journey started when she was just three years old, appearing as a child artist in the Tamil comedy drama Chachi 420 (1997) alongside her father Kamal Haasan and elder sister Anu Hasan. Shruti Hassan has also established herself as a playback singer, having sung over 60 songs in multiple languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
She made her acting debut in 2009 with the Telugu film Luck, and in 2010 followed it up with the Tamil movie 7aum Arivu. Following these successes, she went on to appear in two leading contemporary Tamil films, 3 and Eega. Shruti is the daughter of legendary actor Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur. Her half-sister Akshara Haasan is also an actress. In 2011, Shruti made her Bollywood debut with the action-drama movie Ramaiya Vastavaiya opposite Girish Kumar Taurani and her Telugu debut opposite Mahesh Babu in Anaganaga O Dheerudu. She also starred alongside actor Rajnikanth’s daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth in 3D fantasy adventure film Kochadaiiyaan that same year. In recent years, Shruti has appeared mostly in Tamil cinema but has ventured into other languages such as Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada language films as well as appearing alongside prominent actors like Ajith Kumar and Vijay Sethupathi among others. Her upcoming next film will be a bilingual project directed by Vetrimaaran which will simultaneously release in Tamil and Hindi language entitled Vadachennai 2 (Vaadivaasal). This will be Shruti’s first return to lead a bilingual project since 2011’s 7aum Arivu, which also starred her opposite Surya. Shruti Hassan is one of the leading young actresses of Bollywood and Telugu Film Industry. She has started an interesting trend among Bollywood actors marrying cricketers like Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli or Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul. This year she will be cast opposite SR Virat in a Telugu film called Krack, which will be directed by Gopichand Malineni. It is expected that this movie will bring her back to the top of the list of leading actresses in both Bollywood and Tollywood.
