Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni or Teni the Entertainer, was born on December 23, 1992, in Lagos State, Nigeria. She is the younger sister of Nigerian singer Niniola. Her father, Simeon Apata, was a retired Nigerian Army Brigadier-General and her mother was a school principal. Teni grew up in a family of six siblings and they were all encouraged to pursue their dreams and talents. She attended Apata Memorial High School before proceeding to study Business Administration at American InterContinental University in Atlanta. Growing up, Teni loved music and would often write songs as a hobby. She signed to Shizzi’s Magic Fingers Records. There she did her debut, “Amen”. In 2017, she left Shizzi’s Magic Fingers Records and signed with Dr Dolor Entertainment. Teni came into limelight after releasing her single, “Fargin”. In September 2017, She gained more fame after releasing her hit singles, “Case” “Askamaya” and “Uyo meyo”. “Askamaya” was placed 15th on MTV Base’s year-end list of the Top 20 Hottest Naija Tracks of 2018. After completing her studies, she returned to Nigeria to pursue a career in music. Despite facing initial rejection from record labels, Teni persevered and continued to release singles independently until she caught the attention of Dr Dolor Entertainment. In an interview with MTV Base, the show killer and entertainer affirmed that she has been in a serious relationship for three years but had to keep it away from the cameras and public eyes to “avoid issues that may result in her having issues in her relationship”.
